Project class
I co-taught the New Media (Digitale Klasse) project class at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) as an Assistant Professor (Künstlerischer Mitarbeiter) for a total of 6 years. Initially working alongside Prof. Joachim Sauter until his passing in 2020, I then continued teaching with Guest Professors Jussi Ängeslevä (2020–2023) and Agnes Meyer-Brandis (2023), gradually increasing my teaching share. The class, part of an 18CP study load, was one of the pioneering programs in Digital Media in German art higher education, with a strong emphasis on critical engagement rather than tool-specific instruction.
Each semester, the project class responded to contemporary cultural and technological shifts by exploring a new theme. Learners developed their own projects independently or in small groups, collectively debating and articulating their positions. The class fostered a discursive environment that challenged the status quo and encouraged speculative approaches to media, society, and the future. Themes explored included Artificial Intelligence in Art and Design (2017), Mirror: Material, Medium, Metaphor (2018), Navigation, Orientation, Information (2019), Media Minimalism (2019), Expanding Spaces (2020), Concretely Unimaginable (2020), Legacy (2021), Genius Loci (2022), Compost & Cosmos (2023), among others. More information and project archives are available at newmedia.udk-berlin.de.

Artistic research course
The Critical Media seminar at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) was a practice-and-theory course I taught from 2017 to 2023 in the frame of the New Media project class. Structured as a 5CP course (4 hours per week), it functioned as a transdisciplinar laboratory for artistic research within the field of new media, fostering a strong emphasis on research through practice with digital and electronic technologies. Each semester addressed a distinct theme at the intersection of media theory, technology, and cultural studies. The seminar encouraged students to develop critical frameworks through prototyping, experimentation, and discussion, often using a “thinking with one’s hands” approach that paired material engagement with theoretical inquiry.
The course was open to students across the university and typically hosted around 16 participants from diverse programs including Art & Media, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, Sound Studies, Design & Computation, and Studium Generale. Many projects initiated within the seminar were further developed into project class or graduation work. Topics explored over the years included Things that Learn (2017), Machinic Diffractions (2018), Automate! Multiply! Accelerate! (2018), Nomadic Cartography (2019), Poetics of Repetition (2019), Micro/Macro (2020), Designed Uncertainty (2020), New Wilderness (2021), Time Apparatus (2021), Matters of Thinking (2022), Transmedia Spaces (2022), Earthing Our Way Back (2023), among others.

Between 2017 and 2025, I participated as a second or third supervisor (artistic/scientific evaluator) in the advising and examination of 21 graduation and final projects. This work was carried out primarily within the Visual Communication (BA and MA) and Art & Media (Absolvent) programs at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin), as well as the MA in Digital Media at the University of the Arts Bremen (HfK Bremen). My role focused on supporting students’ artistic and research development and contributing to the evaluation process as part of the official examination boards.

Over the years, I have been invited to lead a total of 13 guest courses and workshops at institutions in Germany and Brazil, engaging with topics in new media, electronic media, practice-based design, and artistic research. These sessions often combined critical reflection with hands-on experimentation and were tailored to specific thematic or research contexts within the host institutions.
Highlights include the guest course Gravitating the Unknown, the Unknowable, and the Unforeseen (3CP, 2021/2022, HfK Bremen), as well as workshops such as How to free a river from its margins (2024, Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe), Electromagnetic Listening (2024, HfK Bremen), Knotting Motion (2023, Akademie Schloss Solitude), and The Non-Human Congress (2017, UdK Berlin). I also co-organized the Monday Meetups: On Artificial Intelligence (2017, UdK Berlin), and earlier workshops including Prototyping as Prosthesis for Thinking (2016, Fablab Bremen), Emergence: The Network Dynamics Applied (2010, UFPR Curitiba), and the Megafônicas series (2009–2011, UNESP Bauru).
