The Love Project is a study in design that translates a person’s love story into an everyday object. Using generative design techniques and technological interfaces for sensing, the project proposes recording a series of love stories told by different guests while sensors capture the guest’s emotion and she/he tells the greatest love story of hers/his life.
The project suggests a future in which unique products will bear personal histories in order to encourage longer life cycles of such artefacts, thus inherently combining tacit emotional memories with sustainable design.
A series of different functional objects are generated through parametric design algorithms in Grasshopper (Rhino) by taking realtime input data from a setup of sensors and parsing interface in Processing. The generative design of the objects was developed at the Estúdio Guto Requena, and the interface and technical setup was developed at D3 Studio. The project involved an exhibition and a performance, where guests were able to tell their love stories while the objects were generated in realtime and right afterwards 3d printed in the exhibition space.
