Role: Assistant Professor (Künstlerischer Mitarbeiter)
Teaching share: 25% (2017-2020) to 50% (2020-2023)

Short Description
Co-teaching the project-based class of New Media (Digitale Klasse) as an Assistant Professor with Prof. Joachim Sauter (2017-20), and after his passing, sharing a higher (50%) teaching load with Guest Prof. Jussi Ängeslevä (2020-23), and Guest Prof. Agnes Meyer-Brandis (2023).
The project class looked critically at emerging media in relation to society and culture. It was one of the first classes in the field of Digital and New Media established within a German art university back in the 1990s. Instead of focusing on specific tools or technologies, the ethos of the class was to question the status quo in order to enable new possible futures. During each semester, the class worked with a different theme, setting a continuously changing focus that responds to contemporary cultural and technological developments. Working independently or in small groups, students set their own objectives and execution strategies while bringing, communicating and debating their own positions collectively.

Short Description
Practice-and-theory seminar on Critical Media that operated as a laboratory for artistic research within the new media field. On each semester, different critical topics within the intersection of media theory, technology, and science/cultural/postcolonial studies were addressed throughout the meetings, while the students were engaged with prototyping and establishing a critical experimental framework for developing further their own artistic position and design/artistic research projects. A special emphasis on research through practice was fostered. Sessions would frequently incorporate a “thinking with one’s hands” approach, where experimenting with materials and prototypes would go hand-in-hand with a deepened discursive and critical understanding of the technologies at hands. Often, the projects started within this course would be further developed into one’s project class or graduation work. The course was open to all students of the university and hosted on average 16 students from different study programs such as Art & Media, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, Sound Studies, Design & Computation, as well as the Studium Generale.
