Using Spider Plotter, a wall-climbing drawing robot created by D3, the project consisted of a series of generative posters that were sent to more them 60 companies part of SoDA (The Global Society for Digital Marketing Innovators). Each of the posters were an invitation to the society’s 2013 global meeting event, sent by mail, together with an NFC card that linked the invitation to the documentation video of it being plotted by the robot.
The plotter worked by receiving instructions wirelessly. In a separate station, an algorithm produced the drawings generatively through parameters both static (input text) and random ones that changed over the time of the algorithm's execution. The setup sought to produce organic lines out of the robot's otherwise strictly straight functional ones.
Each poster took around 8 hours to be plotted, and each printing process was recorded in a series of photographs to be later composed as a time-lapsed documentation video, resulting in more than 60 posters and videos.
